A fetish priest was arrested and charged with the death of a cab driver.

A fetish priest has been arrested by the Fomena District Police Command for fatally shooting a cab driver at Ahinsan-Ntoaku, near Dompoase in the Adansi North District.

Kwadwo Antwi, a 28-year-old cab driver, died unnecessarily on Tuesday morning when the fetish priest’s gun, known in the area as Nana Collins Asamoah, went off and hit the taxi driver in the chest.

He was rushed to a facility, however upon arrival, he was pronounced dead.

Nana Adom Kofi, a cab driver, said the fetish priest, who lived in Agogooso, one of the surrounding villages, drew a revolver at the lorry station where he and the victim, along with some other drivers, were loading passengers.
He heard a loud gunshot and noticed the deceased struggling with blood flowing from his chest shortly after.According to Nana Kofi, the residents in the vicinity, together with the fetish priest, hurried him to the town’s Benito hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The fetish priest proceeded to the Dompoase Police Station to file a report and was arrested for questioning.

The suspect was in jail while investigations were conducted, according to Chief Superintendent Yaw Ohene Takyi, Dompoase District Police Commander.

Meanwhile, Ahinsan-Ntoaku youngsters are alleged to have attacked and burnt to the ground the fetish priest’s home in Agogooso village, where he lived with his family. Police have sent reinforcements to Agogooso village, according to Chief Superintendent Takyi, to help protect lives and property.

He cautioned the youth to maintain composure and refrain from doing anything that might put them in trouble with the law.The District Commander added that the police were investigating the situation and advised the youth to keep a cool head.
