Bukom Arena has revolutionized Ghanaian boxing, according to a former minister

Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuije, has highlighted the Bukom Boxing Arena as the reason for the country’s rising boxing standard.

Mr. Vanderpuije added that the structure had allowed boxers to be active, as opposed to the past, when promoters struggled to get event grounds for events.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Odododiodioo Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) told the Graphic Sports that the community required more sports infrastructure to develop more champions for the country.

“There are so many talents in this town, but finding and nurturing them will be tough without sufficient infrastructure.”

“During my time as a minister, I made sure that my people had access to the Bukom Boxing Arena, which has significantly improved the country’s boxing standards.”

“Boxing is my people’s passion, and I’m always willing to lend a hand in getting them to the top.” “It’s something we need to look at as a country since the sport has given us so much,” he remarked.

When Mr. Vanderpuije was the sector minister, the Bukom Boxing Arena, a Trust Sports Emporium event venue, was opened in 2016 as a sports infrastructure for boxing in the country.

The structure has held notable boxing events in the country over the years, including a world title eliminator between Isaac ‘Royal Storm’ Dogboe and Cesar Juarez of Mexico.
