During Monday’s Ghana Women’s Super Cup match between Soccer Intellectuals and Prisons Ladies, chaos erupted.
This came after Soccer Intellectuals goalie Selina Abalansa got into a violent argument with the referee.
The event occurred in the second half, when Prisons Ladies scored a disputed second goal against Abalansa’s team.
The goalkeeper was dissatisfied with the referee’s decision to allow the game to continue, and she raced up to her to express her unhappiness.
Following the altercation, things became heated, and the two began trading blows on the Madina Astroturf.
Things may have gotten a lot worse if it hadn’t been for the timely involvement of both teams’ players and other match officials.
Meanwhile, Prisons Ladies advanced to the semi-finals of the current Super Cup with a 2-0 victory.
The Ghana Football Association is set to sanction Abalansa for her unacceptably bad behavior (GFA).
The teenage goalkeeper now plays for Ghana’s Black Princesses, the country’s U-20 female national team.
