Miss Tourism Ghana Queens Celebrate Global Handwashing Day
On 15th October, Miss Tourism Ghana Queen and her Princesses led by Mrs. Delphine Brew-Hammond and their Chaperone,visited some cluster of schools in Tema Community 7 and the Tema Market to mark the Global hand washing day.
The Queens first visited the schools in Tema Community 7 to educate them on why handwashing with soap and clean water is among the most effective and inexpensive ways to prevent diseases. They were given a warmly welcome and introduction followed.
This followed with speeches from the Queens on Global Handwashing Day. They talked about why handwashing with soap under running water is effective, how to thoroughly wash the hands and when to wash the hands. The Queen and her Princesses demonstrated the 7 steps as to how to thoroughly wash the hands. They also talked about the use of sanitizers as well.
The students were taught how to properly wash the hands and some students demonstrated the process as well. It ended with music and dance to create a joyful atmosphere. They presented the school with soaps, sanitizers, tissues, Veronica buckets, etc.
Miss Tourism Ghana Queen and her Princesses then moved to the Tema Market. A great entrance it was,as the market women cheered the Queens into the market and gave them a warmly welcome. Heads of the market gave their speeches then followed the Queens. They talked and educated the market women on Global Handwashing Day. Questions and answers followed and prizes were given to those who participated. The Queen and her Princesses demonstrated the 7 steps as to how to thoroughly wash the hands. Some market women were also given the chances to demonstrate what they were taught.
The Queens educated the market women on the use of sanitizers and the need to wear nose masks. The market women were given nose masks, sanitizers and soaps each to help prevent themselves from diseases. The excitement on their faces showed how glad they were.
Miss Tourism Ghana Queen and her Princesses, aside the items given to the women,presented the market with soaps, sanitizers, tissues, Veronica buckets, etc to mark the Global Handwashing Day. The Queens left with much joy as the day was successful.
