Cases of Omicron are increasing on a daily basis around the world, according to the World Health Organization.
The World Health Organization has issued a warning to all countries to prepare for potential Covid outbreaks.
Dr Takeshi Kasai, WHO’s regional director for the Western Pacific, believes the new Omicron variant’s geographic distribution is “likely already wider than currently reported.”
Dr. Kasai, on the other hand, adds that lessons have been learned from the spread and handling of the Delta variant.
According to Dr. Babatunde Olowokure, WHO regional emergency director, blanket travel bans will only delay the variant’s entry into countries.
He claims that the WHO is working with a “large number” of research institutions to study Omicron, but that no information has been received to suggest that countries’ approaches to the pandemic should be changed.
According to the WHO, mask use, physical separation, hand hygiene, crowd avoidance, contact tracing and case isolation, and vaccination are all important.
